Parola, bloodied but fighting, chased a burglar from a fire escape into the street. The intruder attacked a policeman, sparking a pursuit by Parola and Forgione, who with arriving officers subdued the suspect. Both officers were treated for cuts and bruises but escaped serious injuries.
A state board authorized hospital director Charles Rosenblum to examine contracts and fees from three architectural firms Burk LeBreton Lamantia Manson and Thompson Brocato and Bentin. Rosenblum said the probe will determine contract validity and proper handling of unpaid sums while Gov Long believes fees may be invalid. Board members included Hammond mayor James A Stires Abita Springs John Larson Lake Providence W A Deal Baton Rouge and others.

Heath stated doctors removed the psychiatrist but the condition remained a continuing concern. Governors mansion statements varied from cheery to gloomy as a state official warned Long was failing rapidly.
