Washington July 10 A special House committee of seven led by Rep Bennett to probe alleged lobbyists and Mulhall charges was formed to expand the inquiry beyond the Henry investigation. Hearings expected Monday with open sessions. witnesses including NACM and wool manufacturers officials may be called.

Little Rock Arkansas July 10 a court martial convened by order of Gov Futrell to try Captain L D Hickey of Jonesboro on charges tied to the Fordyce disturbance last year when the state guard en route to maneuvers in Alexandria Louisiana halted for a day. Hickey faces claim of responsibility for actions by his company soldiers who allegedly terrorized the town's negro section.
Jurors returned a guilty verdict against Smith after about 45 minutes of deliberation. The case proceeded under court authorities with the judge awaiting sentencing details.
C. C. Smith chairman of the penitentiary board convicted last night of conspiracy to defraud the state in a car purchase will be sentenced after the motion for a new trial is resolved. At a Chamber of Commerce meeting it was decided the poultry show would be held at the 1913 Ouachita Fair under the Ouachita Poultry Association. Ouachita parish is Louisiana’s banner poultry parish and the association has seven successful shows. Monroe Fair Association offers larger premiums, plus new quarters with good light ventilation and space for fifty coops. The poultry building will be a major fair attraction and the show is expected to attract a large entry list.
Assistant Attorney General Ethridge swore out a war ant in Jackson yesterday and moved from Rankin to Smith county. An officer was sent to Smith county to arrest him today. Berry Carter alias Parker, warrant issued in Jackson yesterday, located at Bolton with an officer in pursuit. Gov. Brewer added counsel to aid District Attorney Eastland in penitentiary case prosecutions.
New Orleans July 9 Walter Van Benthuysen declares he will resign from the Dock Board to the governor tomorrow amid a push for a broad reorganization to redistribute patronage under the current administration.
Baton Rouge reports a shake up in the State Institution for the Blind as the Board of Trustees plans a meeting next month to choose a successor to Superintendent Walter Bynum who has led the school for about a decade. The board, recently reorganized by Governor Hall, has conveyed to Bynum that his resignation would be acceptable.

Baton Rouge July 10 All fertilizer inspectors of the state gathered for a joint meeting addressed by Governor Hall and Commissioner F E O Bruner. The session urged strict enforcement of laws to protect farmers and curb fraudulent fertilizer sales. Bruner sought inspector cooperation in fertilizer and feed work and agricultural development. A house warming at Bruner’s St Louis Street home followed with state officials and guests.
