Los Angeles report says Julius Bossey provides razor soap lotion and advice for 2 cents letting customers shave themselves with five unstaffed chairs while former barbers are in the armed forces. He even allows shavers to talk to themselves to keep change from growing.
Allied reports say German forces along the Gothic Line halted the Fifth Army advance toward Livorno Pisa and Florence as fighting raged from Rosignano to Montecatini. American and French units pushed along Highway 2 and captured high ground near Montecatini while heavy artillery and Nebelwerfers disrupted supply routes.
President Edelmiro Farrell told the army and navy banquet that Argentina has shown willingness to cooperate with other American nations but rejects foreign pressure. He stressed sovereignty and free determination, defending cooperation while warning against aggression and hostilities.

Senator Thomas says talks with Tokyo via Switzerland on returning sick and wounded American prisoners of war and civilian internees held by Japan have no result yet. He cites May counts of 19,919 POWs and 5,543 civilian internees, with 17,175 war prisoners in official estimates and about 7,000 civilian internees noted by the provost marshal general.
