The Camp P-69 project near a southern locale, described as among the best in the state, has built 50 miles of new telephone lines, 25 fire breaks, 160 miles of trails, and multiple culverts and bridges. Under superintendent I e Shelton, 3,000 men labored since August 1933 to reduce fire hazards and improve roads, with benefits including new road access, recreation spots, and employment. Jena Opens New Public Swimming Pool

Measure to aid youth through police juries and schools
The legislature unanimously passed a bill allowing police juries and school boards to annually appropriate up to 20000 dollars to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire and similar youth groups to fund character building and American citizenship education. Senator Fleming backed it. Representative Curry sponsored in the House, which approved 79 to 0.

The seventh annual northeast Louisiana Baptists encampment will begin Tuesday at Olfa and run through July 16. Dr. H. E. Pettus will lead Bible study classes and Dr. C. A. Devane will oversee the pastors conference. Evening religious stereoptical pictures will be shown by Rev. L. T. Hastings. Young Baptists from Monroe and West Monroe plan to attend.

Lindsay to visit Chicago furniture mart for fall purchases
J. Black Lindsay manager of Home Furniture leaves Saturday for the Chicago furniture mart to scout large fall and winter purchases. He tours the closed public exhibition previewing furniture lamps floor coverings and toys for the season and predicts 70 percent of new patterns will be modern or 18th century with the rest split among Early American Colonial and Federal styles.
