The state rested its murder case against Bruno Hauptmann as a possible cross examination and adjournment loomed. Evidence included a ladder rail from Hauptmann's attic and Koehler corroborating Hauptmann used his plane and Bronx lumber in the ladder.
Bernard Haywood age 24 alias Jack Wolf confessed robber of two West Monroe crimes on December 28. He was shot in the hip, captured at Marion Arkansas, then extradited to Marion Kansas to answer charges of robbery first degree burglary and jail breaking with possible 25 to 50 year sentence. Sheriff L P Richter and Deputy White brought extradition papers and placed Haywood in custody at the parish jail awaiting transport to Kansas City.
