Three survivors from the City of Atlanta and Ciltraira cargo ship disaster are identified. Detroit Jan 22 A labor dispute threatens a city employes strike that could halt 15 percent wage gains and disrupt 37 000 workers at the Arsenal era factory complex. The City Employes union AFL plans to meet to decide whether to strike, risking paralysis of transit and defense industry output. The Amal Amalgamated Association of Street Electric Railway and Motor Coach Employes AFL warned against picket disruptions to transport property.
Russian troops attacked the rear of German forces seven miles west of Mozhais k as London said Britain would marshal a large offensive force for Europe. British and Axis fronts reported moves in North Africa with brief clashes near Mersa Brega and Agedabia as Rommel’s columns pressed retreating troops.
