Two Detectives Face Trial For Battery Charge
Two Monroe detectives Billy J. McBride and Floyd T. Van Jr and Bernard Van will be tried in Fourth District Court on Friday for simple battery of a local used car dealer. Indians Threaten Walk Away From 349 Prisoners
At Panmunjom an Indian general warned that if the Communists do not take back 349 prisoners including 21 Americans the Indian guards will open the gates of their neutral zone stockade at midnight Friday and walk away. He said the prisoners would be told owners refuse to take them back and then Indian troops would retreat to their line. The Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission head noted the move could create a problem since neither Allied nor Red troops may enter Korea’s demilitarized zone.
