Murphy's VSN Plans Visit by Legion Commander
At a Monroe post meeting plans are made to entertain Ray Murphy national commander of the American Legion on February 13 as guest of honor of the post and district. A buffet luncheon on Hotel Virginia roof will mark his visit with an inspection of the Forsythe park Legion home and a morning visit to the U S Veterans hospital in Alexandria before proceeding to Shreveport.

Mid year tests announced for Neville High students
Neville High School will hold mid year examinations starting Monday January 27 for three days. Exams run 8 40 to 10 30 a m and 11 00 to 1 00 p m, with Wednesday’s final day following the same schedule but ending at 1 00 p m. Students must maintain a general average of B or better.

Funeral held for Edward King youth struck by car
Funeral services were held for Edward King 19 a special railroad messenger killed when struck by a car in the 700 block of South Second Street. Interment followed at Riverview Burial Park. Surviving parents a brother and two sisters. The accident occurred as King rode a bicycle in rain with driver W D Grice saying he did not see the youth until impact. Police and the coroner investigated and ruled the collision unavoidable.
