Parker Dies From Gun Wound In Ouachita Parish Incident
Former Ouachita Parish sheriff Jack Parker died at St Francis Sanitarium from a brain wound inflicted by Cary Calhoun after an altercation in a cabin. Calhoun reportedly shot Parker as Parker tried to help a friend. Wess Saunders was intoxicated and present. Dr. A H Gladden described the events and said Parker died at 3 a m Saturday.

Jan 20 Burnett held on affidavit charging murder in the deaths of Watt Daniels and T F Richards will be released on bond of 5000 today. He arrived from Shreveport where confined in a hospital after illness from Bastrop jail. Defense and attorney general staff agreed to bail. Coroner’s certificate warned re confinement risks. Burnett identified as member of blackhooded gang that kidnapped Daniels Richards Andrews Davenport and Daniel on August 24. Whetstone testified seeing Burnett with mask up during preparations.

Youth Roger to be questioned in Bastrop hearing
Sidney Rogers who said he was robbed by masked men near Mer Rouge is to be brought to Bastrop today by Department of Justice agents for questioning and to testify at the open hearing. He reported being held up two miles from Mer Rouge by six or eight black hooded men who asked if he was Mr Knight and he identified himself before being released.
