Labor turmoil turns deadly at Lake Charles construction site

About 100 men stormed a Jupiter Chemical Co. ammonia plant site in Lake Charles. Joe A. Hooper, an employee of Payne Keller Construction, was shot dead as armed men rode a forklift through gates and chaos erupted. Five others injured, cars and trailers overturned amid gunfire.
