Ordeal by Fire and Sea Is Ended

Twenty survivors of the army funeral transport Joseph V Connolly arrived in New York by plane after lifeboat exposure in the north Atlantic. They were rescued near 900 miles east of New York following the burning of the vessel Monday morning. They landed in Halifax with 27 crew members and one passenger saved by Union Victory. The rest were taken to Bremerton aboard Gen R E Callan. Snakes die if they are left long in the sun.
