Two Sought For Armed Robbery Of Store Here
Monroe police searched for two black males after an 11 a.m. armed robbery at Newtown Grocery 601 Texas Ave. An six inch barrel handgun was used and two Central Bank money bags were taken. Suspects wore ski masks and dark clothing. a getaway car was believed parked nearby.

Suspect Arrested In Shooting Death
In Richland Parish suspect Joe Alexander 84 of Warden is charged with murder for the fatal shooting of W. A. Southall Sr. and wounding Emmett Copes. The 30 06 rifle broke through store window at 6 45 am. Copes was treated and transferred to Monroe. Deputies with a canine unit chased Alexander to his home and he was taken into custody. He is held without bond.
