Louisiana remains tied for second in U S mineral value in 1962, with total mineral production reaching an estimated 2.4 billion dollars. Petroleum, natural gas, and natural gas liquids make up 94 percent of value while crude oil output rises 12 percent, gas 9 percent, and liquids 2 percent. Oil wells totaling 25,911 and producing wells 7,217 were recorded as of Sept 30, with crude production at about 479.03 million barrels and natural gas at 3.566 billion cubic feet.
