New York January 10. Milo Thompson appointed acting chief of bureau at New Orleans overseeing AP service in Louisiana and Mississippi. Thompson, ex editor in chief of the Idaho Statesman, has led AP bureaus in Sacramento Des Moines Kansas City London and more.
Dudley Field Malone, noted American lawyer, resembles Winston Churchill and is cast to portray Churchill in the Hollywood film Mission to Moscow by former US Ambassador Joseph E Davies. Malone strikes a classic Churchill pose in Hollywood.
President Roosevelt urged Congress to appropriate 837 million for agricultural programs to raise farm output for war needs while rationing and distribution controls ensure adequate supplies.
