Moonshiner on Ouachita River Nabbed Over Gas Boat Plant
J. C. Cartery, 65, arrested on charges of manufacturing liquor and possession after sheriff Arthur Grant and deputies Coverdale and Roper found a complete 20 gallon still, worm, three gallons of moonshine, and two mash barrels on a gasoline boat on the Ouachita river. Cartery surrendered the gear without protest as officers boarded. He had been traveling the Ouachita from Arkansas a few weeks prior.

Survived by father L W Leach, daughter Mrs W L Mitchell, nine sisters and three brothers including Dr Thena Robinson Bethany La Mrs Jean Thompson West Monroe and others. Funeral from daughter's home at 10 30 this morning Rev Evans officiated and Hasley Cemetery received the interment. Floral tributes marked the final tribute to a beloved woman.
