Carey Trial Begins Second Day in Bribery Case

In Shreveport Louisiana on January 8 the Harvey L Carey trial moved into its second day as the government prepared to call its first witness in federal court. Missing Boy Found Chained To Bed In Salt Lake City

A 14 year old boy Richard Henricksen was found chained to a bed in a dirty Salt Lake City home. John D. Billett a 24 year old man was jailed on federal bank robbery charges after admitting kidnapping the boy and leading officers to the hideout. The boy described beatings to coerce confession and said Billett claimed to be a special police officer.

College sports shakeup proposed by 10 college presidents

Washington Jan 8 AP ten college presidents studying intercollegiate athletics proposed a code to end spring practice, post season games, and athletic scholarships.
