Dale "Red" Jackson, renowned St. Louis aviator and endur ance flyer, perished when an Amphibian plane failed during an inside loop near Miami Municipal Airport on the eve of the all American air race. The aircraft shed a wing as it stalled and plunged to the ground. Jackson was found dead in the cockpit with his parachute cord gripped.
