Weather outlook for Northeast Louisiana shows decreasing clouds today then warmer by Tuesday with highs in the upper 40s today and low 60s Tuesday, winds light. In Washington, Virginia accountant Malvern J. Gross Jr. claims the coast to coast flight in 11 hours 9 minutes in a Cessna Turbo 210 as a personal challenge proving modern light planes are capable machines.

Monroe and West Monroe population boom 1927 to 1970

Monroe grew from 22 026 to about 57 000 by 1970 while West Monroe rose from 5 056 to 14 868, doubling in fifty years. The 1927 to 1930 boom saw over 1 300 building permits for downtown hotels and office buildings.

Carter seeks broad authority to streamline U S bureaucracy
