Monroe fire officials report Mrs Dorothy Pope 2814 Gordon Ave Monroe died in a front bedroom blaze that began about 645 am. Her husband Jacob Pope escaped through the back door as two Monroe units fought the fire. Coroner Van Buren and Mulhearn Funeral Home were notified. Cause under investigation.
