Missing Alexandria Woman Sought After Hospital Exit

Helen Matherne 55 wife of local businessman Jourdan Matherne has been missing since leaving Baptist Hospital in Alexandria around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Family notes she felt dizzy earlier that day. Her car was found on an Alexandria street and investigators from the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and city police are examining it for clues. authorities say no signs of foul play yet.

Carolyn Mae Thesen 70 of St. Francisville mother of Sixth District congressman John R. Rarick died early today in a Zachary hospital after ill health and a lengthy hospitalization. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Senate Debates HEW Funding Bill Amid Desegregation Fears

She has led the council since October. The Supreme Court agreed to hear whether servicemen charged with peacetime on base crimes have the right to trial by jury in civilian courts.
