A pre dawn blaze gutted the Nanny Club on Winnsboro Road in Monroe. Louisiana State Police and Ouachita Parish Fire units battled flames rising hundreds of feet. Traffic was rerouted as crews fought the fire for about two hours with origin undetermined.
The State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education unanimously voted in Baton Rouge on Thursday to buy a 30acre tract in the West Ouachita Industrial Park for a regional vocational technical institution. The 63 year old Bastrop woman Ola C. Goudeau was found by Morehouse Parish deputies in Bayou Bartholomew around 8:45 a.m. She had been reported missing earlier by family and was pulled from a location about a quarter mile from her home. There were no signs of foul play and the body was sent to Morehouse General Hospital for examination.
