Camp pastor at Avenue Community urges Christlike service after a late night service. He cites Jesus compassion and requests Christians to imitate His aid to both body and soul, stressing a sacred duty to help others and be ambassadors of Christ.
Rev E L Brunson spoke at the First Baptist Church (colored) from 2 Timothy 3 1 5 on The Trend of the Age. He warned that today’s religion is easygoing and lacks sacrifice yet urged faith to hold fast for a future when righteousness will cover the earth.
Fire Saturday leveled the Twin Oaks filling station about 12 miles from Bastrop on the Bonta road. Operated by Neil Jenkins, the station also served as a residence and was completely destroyed by the blaze.
In Bastrop on February 25 the Democratic executive committee has not set a primary date, but is expected to meet and choose April 9 as the first primary.
