Three large merger rumors emerged in New Yorks financial district involving assets totaling about 1.159 billion dollars. Potential Bank of America expansion would combine five banks under Edward C. Delafield, with A P Giannini driving the deal. The Fox studios likely to merge with Stanley Corp. would create an 800 million theater chain across the United States. A Brockway Indiana Truck tie would merge NY Brockway with Marion Indiana based firm totaling nine million dollars in assets.
L. J. Snell former yardmaster for Missouri Pacific turned himself in to Judge Schulze in Monroe after learning of federal warrants tied to whiskey charges. He and Mrs. Boatright were connected to a raid at 306 Carolina Avenue January 20 yielding 46 gallons of whiskey. Snell remains jailed with Dooley as bondsman unable to confer. Boatright also sought on federal charges.
Masked robbers in wild west style held up a Grand Trunk local near Evergreen Park south of Chicago. They blasted a mail car, seized two pouches with cash destined for two Harvey banks, and fired over 50 shots as they escaped with at least $133,000 amid a mass of frightened passengers and crew.
Ouachita Parish high school advances to the North Louisiana basketball tournament semi finals after second round play in Ruston. Survivors and net scores show Ouachita Parish 15, Sarepta 15, Oak Ridge 25, Bienville 15.
Ruston La February 25 Ouachita Parish High played fast basketball in the first round of the North Louisiana tournament. Twelve teams advanced to the second round after the Lombard system narrowed from 36 to 12. Morning scores included Bienville 28 Spearville 11 Mer Rouge 18 Hico 13 Bryceland 24 Bowen 15 Vivian 11 and Summerfield.
The district clerk has issued no white marriage licenses since the 20th, five days with no activity, while the first colored license was issued this morning. The lapse follows recent publicity of intra family quarrels in criminal courts and contrasts with the usual daily output.

Col Charles A Lindbergh and four St Louis business men departed Selfridge field Detroit at 11 26 am in a Ryan monoplane for an undisclosed destination. Maj Thomas Lanphier said he planned to lift later and was told Milwaukee was the likely destination for the Lindbergh party.
An army major described Lindbergh as only an interested spectator at a hangar field test of a motor invention. He testified to witnessing the motor test and spoke positively about the device while avoiding discussion of broader implications or future actions.
The contract for the new St. Matthew's school was let to George Love, local contractor, for 61 900 dollars. Construction must be completed by August 15 and the fireproof art brick two story building will face Grammont street. The design includes indoor play rooms, showers and lockers for boys and girls, a cafeteria, and a large assembly hall. The first floor serves grammar school grades while the top floor houses high school facilities and sisters quarters. Plans by J W Smith and associates note three years of tension over the project.
