Special to News Star from Columbia Louisiana February 24 John Vincent a logger at Lossing Camp 1 ward five of Caldive parish was killed yesterday afternoon by Dar Carpenter another logger at the same camp It is said Vincent who was a physical giant was under the influence of whisky and invited Carpenter to take a drink When Carpenter refused Vincent threw him down and drenched him with the man Carpenter became indignant at the treatment and because of his pride test Vincent assaulted and beat him Carpenter prepared his weapon and later met Vincent again When Vincent renewed his assault Carpenter shot him The accused is now in jail awaiting action of the court
