Washington February 24 The house appropriations committee trimmed President Roosevelt’s relief plan and cut 27 million dollars from estimates for the treasury and post office departments For the coming year the panel recommends 1 700 471 354 to run both departments, still 197 629 280 above this year’s figures Most savings come from a 20 million cut to the 600 million proposed for the social security old age reserve fund The reduction reflects belief that tax receipts will be higher than forecast The post office share is down nearly 2 5 million and the panel projects a net deficit of about 1 844 684 for the next year
