Ten armed robbers seized City bank in Kansas City using two sub machine guns and two sawed off shotguns. They forced employees and customers to lie down and escaped in two cars with loot around 20 000 dollars though initial estimates listed 50 000. President R C Kemper was threatened but no one injured.
In Wellston a heist from the Wellston Trust Company during the night netted about 30000 in currency, with 8000 in coins avoided. Eight workers were taken prisoner and forced to open a time vault. The robbers used a taxicab then car, showing knowledge of the two story building. Evidence of tools used to cut into the vault was left behind.
Four men robbed Wellston Trust Company at 6212 Easton Street in St Louis. They hid in the bank overnight, confronted staff with pistols on morning arrival, forced vaults open, and escaped with $30,000. The crime occurred February 24. The quartet fled the scene and law enforcement pursuing leads.
In Nicaragua on February 24 American Marines killed three insurgents and wounded five as part of a drive against rebel bands believed linked to General Augustino Sandino. A 20 man marine patrol led by Lieut. John G. Walragen, with a parallel Guardia unit under Lieut. Donall McDowall, engaged near Telepaneca, about twenty miles southeast of Ocotal, with no Marine casualties reported.
Police pursue a man calling himself a doctor after Miss Margaret Brown a 40 year old governess was burned to death near Bernardsville New Jersey. An anonymous confession letter claims the killer soaked her clothes in gasoline and ignited them after meeting her in Central Park and driving to Lovers Lane. Bonds totaling 2000 are present in the victim’s possession suggesting a financial motive and the letter says the slayer will flee.
In Mexico City on February 24 two men carrying munitions for rebels were captured by police aboard a train bound for Guadalajara. A valise held 6,000 rifle cartridges. Five other gun runners, including two women, escaped. Dispatches from Zacatecas report rebels sacked stores in Rio Grande and a volunteer force defeated them at Abrego.
Senator Borah of Idaho posed a prohibition question to presidential hopefuls. Secretary Hoover and Senators Curtis of Kansas and Willis of Ohio all respond that the prohibition amendment should not be repealed and that enforcement should be vigorous, efficient, and sincere under oath.

R L Cuave a 28 year old Winnsboro farmer was badly injured when a tree he was felling on his farm fell on him. He was rushed to Riverside sanitarium where an emergency operation was done. His condition was critical with fractures of the leg hip back and other internal injuries. He has a wife and three small children.
The Twin City delegation attended the Region Five Boy Scout conferences in Jackson Mississippi on Wednesday and Thursday. About sixty percent of the region’s councils including Tennessee Alabama Arkansas Louisiana Mississippi and part of Florida were represented with enrollment over one hundred. Dr George F Fisher deputy chief Scout executive spoke several times during the program. Reports showed steady uptrends in Scout membership troops and financial progress across the region.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports two assassination attempts last night on Captain H. W. Lyons Jr. son of Rear Admiral H. W. Lyons U S N retired and government witness in rum running cases.
