Jules Pujol assistant fire chief suffocated in the Marks Isaac Company warehouse during an early morning blaze on Canal Street. Floors and walls collapsed trapping him. five other firemen were injured. Loss estimated at 50 000 dollars as the structure and contents burned. Louis Pujol, former chief, expressed respect for his brother's duties. Fire officials ordered a strict investigation into building conditions.

Six more are held for investigation. The feud between moonshiners and revenue officers erupts anew in Somerville county echoing Virginia and Kentucky clashes. Among the arrestees are prominent local citizens.
Peoria Illinois February 23 Senator James A Reed of Missouri seeking the Democratic presidential nomination urged a strict isolation policy in foreign affairs during a Washington day address He also denounced officials who go on to private oil work after leaving office.
Warren J. Stone, grand chief of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, told a Brooklyn church club last night that the United States needs a new political party. He urged a party that could elect officials who observe two rules, thou shalt not lie and thou shalt not steal.
Accused of passing several worthless checks, M. E. Coppender, former local employee, was arrested in New Orleans and brought back to Monroe. He worked as an aluminum salesman after leaving a local firm and was recognized in a New Orleans hotel, leading to his detention. He is jailed awaiting state charges. In Hammond, notices announced commutation filings for six Italians on death sentences for the Dallas Calmes murder.

His planned trip to Fiume for the annexation ceremonies has been postponed and public duties canceled. Crown Prince Humbert also ill but progressing satisfactorily at the royal household.
Berlin Feb 23 The cabinet resolved to dissolve the Reichstag if a clash with the government over the continuance or discontinuance of the state of emergency arises. Herr Spieker, chief of the Press bureau, told foreign correspondents that dissolution seemed likely soon after the decree that has kept Germany under emergency rules since last November.
London reports show anti government forces exploiting parliament’s difficulties. The government’s position appeared strained by pacifist under secretary Joy Air Wm Leach and by protests over the cruiser program. Conservatives backed the government to win. About twenty five labor members abstained or voted against.
General Silvestre Castro arrives at Pachuca after a six day march from Apuleo with half cavalry and half infantry. Loyalist forces penetrated rebel territory controlled by Figueroa, engaging only one skirmish. Governor Neriro of Guerrero travels in a lit ter amid the combat, while Donald Miller, a New York mining engineer, accompanies Castro after weeks isolated near the Balsas coast.
Weather outlook for the week in the East Gulf and West Gulf States shows much cloudiness and probable rain with temperatures near normal or slightly above normal.
