Local Employees Pension Fund Tops Million
Members of Sears, Roebuck and Co. profit sharing pension fund learned today local employee members now have more than $1 million in the account. E L Carter manager of the Sears store in Monroe announced the information to the 202 employee members today. He noted local members held 14 309 shares of Sears stock and other securities totaling 279 310 credited to their accounts at the end of 1959. The fund is part of the company’s 144 000 stockholder base and invests in Sears stock plus more than 100 diversified companies and other securities. The fund, created in 1916, aims to encourage regular savings share profits and build retirement reserves.
