Dayton Ohio February 22 Lieu tenant John A MacReady failed in his second attempt to set a new world altitude record in two months. His Lepere bi plane reached 34 983 feet actual altitude after descent. The previous record is 36 555 feet held by French aviator Sadi Lecointe.
Lieutenant John A. MacReady attempted to break the altitude record at McCook Field in Dayton. He flew in a Lepere biplane with a 35,000-foot supercharger, reaching an unofficial 41,000 feet though calibration may lower the figure to above 36,555 feet.
Mexico City report from February 22 states General Salvador Alvarado, a West rebel leader and former Yucatan governor, has been captured at Colima. He was moved to Crisπiano Anzaldo, who defected to government, as Lazaro Cardenaz’s volunteers seized Colima. Other leaders such as General Ramirez Garrido were also captured.
If German Ambassador Wieldfeld resigns it is likely that Dr William Solf the German representative at Tokyo will come to the United States.

Mrs. Blanche Tullock of Schnectedy New York is hospitalized in Philadelphia for surgery to remove a tooth embedded in her right lung for three years. Surgeons will use the bronchoscope devised by Dr. Chevalier Jackson at Jefferson Hospital.
Senator Walsh a Democrat from Montana returned to Washington today amid the oil investigation. Officials offered no explanation for the move and his absence had been noted after a trip to North Carolina for a vacation.

Washington February 22 The House pressed ahead with the revenue bill while Republican insurgents disputed the democratic income schedule. Longworth said most insurgents would back a plan for a 7.3 percent maximum surtax and lower normal tax on incomes under 4000 to two percent, with six percent on higher incomes kept.
Baton Rouge February 22 The secretary of state’s office is quiet as results are tabulated with all issues settled. The lone doubt rests in the state auditor race where Justin Deneehaud leads Thomas O Harris by about 4000 votes. Harris congratulated Deneehaud and offered cooperation in handing over records.
