A large blaze started at ten o clock this morning at the Nicholls Hotel and spread, threatening the entire business district of Donaldsonville as flames and smoke illuminated the area. Fire crews battled the inferno amid chaotic scenes and evacuations. The fire remains active with firefighters coordinating to prevent spread to nearby structures.
Fire and robbery spree hit Amite City and Tangipahoa bank. Gunboat style raid blew vault in Amite Bank & Trust, while a blaze swept the business district and Sisters of Charity convent, caused by embers driven by high winds. Police report $2300 stolen with multiple suspects linked to a larger syndicate. authorities issue rewards as investigations continue.
In Zarry Texas on February 22 a burglary damaged a building and blew open the safe. The First National Bank was robbed of more than 4000 dollars as police investigate the break in.
The gunboat Siren, formerly U S S Gunboat, arrived at Ceiba flying the Nicaraguan flag amid alarm in Central American circles. Commander Brittain of the Wheeling boarded the Siren and found papers ajar. The captain held full power of attorney to sell or se the vessel.
Missouri Pacific gains influence in the Wabash Pittsburgh terminal case as it holds 25 percent of Wabash preferred and 5 percent of common. Wabash Railroad controls the terminal stock and first mortgage bonds, shaping the Erie and Wheeling rail reorganizations. The Developments boost reorganization momentum noted by Wall Street Journal.

Berlin February 22 Emperor William overruled the verdict of the military court of honor in the Count Hans von Pfeill case. Washington February 22 The Naval appropriation bill finally passed the House today An effort to recommit the bill to fund one battleship instead of two failed.
Monroe welcomes the steamer Imperial on its inaugural Monroe run to New Orleans with 62 booked passengers already. The voyage costs 12 dollars and includes berth retention while in port. The ship arrives in Monroe Monday Tuesday and Wednesday and departs Wednesday night with return by the J. H. Menge.
Acting under the Valentine anti trust law Attorney General Hogan filed quo warranto suits in Columbus to oust the Hocking Valley Kanawha and Michigan Toledo and Ohio Central Lake Shore and Michigan Southern and Chesapeake and Ohio from Ohio and seek receiverships and wind up their affairs. The Chesapeake and Ohio is targeted for exclusion. A second suit tests stock control by Chesapeake and Lake Shore over smaller lines, with a restraining order sought on voting stock. The main suit alleges stock jobbing and a coal transport conspiracy via the Ohio Coal Traffic Association and notes a plan to dilute Hocking Valley preferred stock and boost common stock. The aim is to enable Kanawha and Hocking Coal and Coke to acquire coal properties, forming a coal trust.
General Man A. W. Sullivan of the Iron Mountain arrived in Little Rock by private car from St Louis to inspect company properties in Little Rock and Argenta. He states routine matters bring him here, the strike is settled, and he has no more knowledge of the Gould rumors than the public.
