On day one of Eisenhower Middle East proposals the Senate ran out of speakers as leaders expected two weeks for action. De Ridder City Judge Will Hall warned during Forestry Progress Day that civil damage suits will rise as timber becomes more valuable. About 250 residents from Beauregard and north Calcasieu attended a banquet, tours, airplane rides, and demonstrations sponsored by the Louisiana Forestry Association. Hall said woods burners face expensive lawsuits and possible criminal action if convicted. Clarence K. Garland a 26 year old hospital orderly at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital in New York admitted to police he treated neighbors for more than a year while posing as a doctor. Garland a native of Portsmouth Virginia said he learned medicine by watching doctors in various hospitals and never charged a fee. He said he never performed major operations. His wife Audrey Garland 18 said she believed he was a doctor.
Monroe Little Theater director Ivan Uttal announces tryouts for the season’s fourth production to be held Friday evening at Selman Field Playhouse. Readings for Dangerous Corner begin at p.m involving seven roles for four women and three men.
The Louisiana state voting machine board called for a study on precinct size charges and delayed buying new machines. Secretary of State Wade C. Martin urged a study by James McLemore, who recommended purchasing more machines while proposing precinct consolidations and splits.
Dodson residents now receive two mail deliveries daily after a district PO investigation. Previously the Ruston Winnfield route used a truck schedule giving only one delivery at 6 30 a m and 6 p m. A petition to Congressman George Long prompted the visit and new Saturday bus service at 1 20 p m.

Two people died in a crash six miles south of Lake Charles when a car skidded into a delivery truck and was struck by a milk truck behind it. Identified were Howard Cole aged 45 and his 16 year old son Harold. Irving Dumaisie 36 was treated at a local hospital. Gustave Landry survived without injuries. Clyde Owens of Port Arthur Texas drove the milk truck.
Alexandria Louisiana Rapides Sheriff Grady L Kelly Jr says a 16000 dollar deficit in the salary fund is due to no increase in commissions on tax collections last summer. He criticizes J B Lancaster as the source of the attack and notes a couple of unsupported checks last year.
Hollywood reports that the TV anthology series has undergone its fifth title change. Previously known as Impact Imnasse Crisis and Impulse the program will now be titled Panic and debuts March 5 on NBG TV.
CRONO Maine editor Hodding Carter told the University of Maine that adapting to an age of hydrogen bombs parallels adjusting to racial differences. He noted Mississippi has more Negroes affecting culture, agriculture, industry, and politics and blamed segregation rulings for post decision violence.
