A local board of stewards protested to Bishop Mouzon and Rev W W Holmes was recalled from Monroe to serve as assistant pastor at First Methodist Church New Orleans. Rev C C Seelsen, former superintendent of Methodist missions, will replace him in Monroe.
In Ruston candidates include F. E. Morgan a former Monroe resident and M. S. Causey a city resident who has also sought the marshal position. Both aim for local offices in the upcoming race.
Regret follows the announcement that Rev. W. Holmes will leave Monroe for New Orleans after a telegram from the Bishop requesting transfer. The Board of Stewards protested, but the decision stands. Holmes, in sixty days as secretary, earned broad goodwill and strong support from church members and the wider community.

John Bondurant a 59 year old Hammond merchant and bank director was detained in a New Orleans hotel room with 15 year old Edna Boyer of Hammond on a serious charge. Bondurant is in jail while the girl is placed with the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children after the pair registered as father and daughter.
Four indictments for alleged rebating were returned by the Federal grand jury against three railroad companies two vehicular concerns and four individuals. Excessive payments for advertising in return for railroad ticket prices is cited as the method of the rebate scheme.
In Washington on February 20 Secretary of Agriculture Wilson denied writing a widely circulated letter promoting land purchases in the Florida Everglades. The ad attributed his opinion to The East Coast Homeseeker from June, aiming to influence buyers to invest in Everglades lands.
The annual international checker tournament opened at Lyric Hall New York with a 24 foot square paper mache board laid on the floor. Checkers weighed one pound each and were moved by players using long poles, observed by a large gallery of spectators.
