Three Monroe Residents Die Sunday and Monday
Three Monroe citizens active in business and industry died within hours of each other over the Sunday and Monday period. Clarence E. Slagle 64 head of Slagle Johnson Lumber died Sunday at a local hospital Louis Fox 66 former head of Fox Renaud Grocery died Sunday morning at Fox Court James T Cooper Sr 62 an engineer for U S and P railroad died early Monday at his home. Foxs funeral was held Monday at the family residence with rabbi F K Hirsch conducting services. Cooper funeral was held Monday afternoon from his residence 404 Louisville avenue with Rev W C Scott in charge. Slagle funeral set for Tuesday at 11 from the family residence interment at Riverview burial park. Slagle prominent in lumber business since 1902 he was born in Chillicothe Ohio September 7 1870. He moved to Louisiana in 1902 and built a large lumber operation. He died after a two week illness.

Two masked robbers forced Bank of Kensett cashier J. H. Wiseman to open the Kensett Arkansas bank. They stole $1,800, tied Wiseman at home, made breakfast for themselves, then drove his car to a filling station before fleeing. Wiseman was left tied in his house. The crime occurred after Wiseman returned from church.
