Desultory cannon fire persisted in Mexico City as Federals retreat and rebels hold firm. President Madero consents in principle to a provisional president ad interim while forces reorganize and renew attacks near the National Palace and U S embassy area.
The capital city battle leaves a large number of Mexican Federals killed near the American embassy in Mexico City. Embass y building damage is minor though bullets penetrate the structure. American Silas Gilmore is wounded in the forearm while walking. Rebels extend fire to the National Palace and arsenal.
Washington dispatch reports General Diaz and rebel command nearing full control of Mexico City residential sections. Diaz lines advance to Insurgentes and Niza streets and appear set to attack a nearby battery.
