In Fort Worth Texas two gunmen posing as postal messengers forced entry into 70-year-old Lee Crawford's home and tortured him with a hot iron to force disclosure of 1300 dollars in cash and 5000 dollars in jewelry. Crawford and his wife and a guest were bound and blindfolded. Crawford suffered severe burns and was hospitalized. Oldest Jackson Resident Samuel Walsworth Dies at 100
Samuel Walsworth Jackson Parish's oldest citizen died Saturday in a Wyatt nursing home at age 100. Funeral services set for 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Reverends Barfield Buckner and Tatum officiating. Burial in Jonesboro Cemetery under Edmonds Funeral Home. Surviving family includes nine children, 32 grandchildren, 84 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. Open house marked his centennial birthday last Sunday with 176 guests.
