Move to End Salary Limit Gains Support

Washington February 18 Democratic support grew in the Senate for a bi partisan effort to repeal President Roosevelt's executive order capping salaries at 21000 a year after tax payment. Senators Byrd of Virginia and Clark of Missouri said they would back repealing the order and attaching it to a measure raising the national debt limit as the House Ways and Means committee already approved. The move seeks to end government speed limits by decree and let Congress decide.

Oregon rancher shoots lover in Las Vegas double life case

In Las Vegas authorities report Walter Duncan, a 66 year old Oregon rancher, shot and killed Russell Cone after Cone began a relationship with Duncan's wife. Duncan claimed protection of his family and said Cone pursued his wife while she lived with him and Cone in an auto court. The coroner noted Duncan stated he used a deer rifle but investigators continued to probe the circumstances surrounding the deaths and Duncan's open charge.
