A Senate oil committee subpoenas Edward B. McLean publisher of the Washington Post to appear in Washington. Oscar Sutro testifies for Standard Oil Co of California claiming department of justice opinion sought by Pinney was not desired by the interior secretary. A letter from H Foster Bain transmits Sutro’s view opposing the leasing policy.
