Land Grant to John Landrum Traced Through Generations
The land grant dated during Franklin Pierce's presidency covered the west half of the southeast quarter of section 33, township 17, range 1 east. It bordered the Dedonesboro highway four miles east of Eros, later passing to Roberts and then to O. Dickerson, with Des W. H. Landrum a notable later descendant and Natchitoches physician. The original log house stood until the 1921 cyclone but the west end remains as part of the current residence.

Grammont Street House Gutted by Fire
A dwelling at 1111 Grammont Street owned by C. E. Bynum and occupied by Ida Willmore and Mary Louw Kelly was gutted by fire Saturday due to a defective above pipe. About 150 dollars in damages occurred. The fire was reported at 12:85 p.m. and two companies responded with hose lines laid to extinguish the blaze.
