Cooper and Conrad to pilot seven day Gemini mission

Air Force Maj. L. Gordon Cooper and Navy Lt. Cmdr. Charles Conrad Jr. were named to fly the seven day Gemini mission. Backup crews include civilians Neil Armstrong and Elliott Lee Jr. both former Navy pilots. Cooper, a Mercury program veteran, has logged 34 hours in space aboard Faith 7.
