Aniceto Granillo, cacique of the Tigua Indians, died near age 90 in Ysleta Tex. A solemn Requiem Mass followed as the tribe paid homage beside the mission they helped build nearly three centuries ago. Eros Man Sentenced for Wreck Death in 1956

Audrey M. Johnson, 19, of Eros, was sentenced in Fourth District Court to four years in Angola State Penitentiary for negligent homicide in the August 19 1956 head on crash that killed Abraham Vallery Sr about 11 miles west of West Monroe on highway 80. Johnson was indicted by Ouachita Parish Grand Jury in October 1956.

A nighttime sniper, in a car, wounded two girls and fired on women at bus stops and in peppered cars and homes with a .22 rifle across four communities since Christmas. The spree began again last night, targeting women and causing widespread fear in the Detroit area.

Phantom sniper terror hits Oakland County women targets

Two hours after the first shot, police nabbed Gary Addison Taylor, 20, of Southfield Township. He claimed to be the shooter saying he had an urge to shoot at women. The spree began with Shirley Eland, 19, shot on her Bloomfield Hills porch. later shots hit a Royal Oak bus stop, a station wagon, and Carol Ann McCarthy, 11, grazed. Police held him without charge.
