A Brooklyn couple Joseph T Kennedy 46 and Nan Kennedy 42 and their 5 year old Valerie died after they leaped from a 15 story building. Police await autopsy results to determine if illness accident or foul play caused the child’s death and whether it influenced the parents’ action.
President Eisenhower and King Saud of Saudi Arabia met in Washington to finalize talks on Mideast issues. They reportedly reached agreement on several points including continued use of Dhahran base, increased military aid, and economic development support.

He claimed innocence and spoke of finding God. Lorber, another condemned man, left $4 in his cell and warned others as he faced execution.

Audrey M. Johnson, 19, of Eros, was sentenced in Fourth District Court to four years in Angola State Penitentiary for negligent homicide in the August 19 1956 head on crash that killed Abraham Vallery Sr about 11 miles west of West Monroe on highway 80. Johnson was indicted by Ouachita Parish Grand Jury in October 1956.
Five Baton Rouge sewing machine salesmen linked to Atlas Sewing Machine Company were indicted by the Richland parish Grand Jury on eight counts. They allegedly sold machines as contest winnings and took payments as taxes while buyers signed chattel mortgages. Indicted: Hubert Eugene James Ferriday Jerry Lee Lewis A H Birmingham Jr Claude Houston J R Hopkins. Arraignment set for Tuesday. all remain on bond.
Soviet Deputy Foreign Minister Vassily Kuznetsov has sent letters to the UN delegation heads proposing foreign ministers and other top officials join the disarmament talks subcommittee. Western governments gave no immediate reply as the group plans to restart private talks in London March 11, with mixed views on elevating participants.
California astronomer Dr. Robert S. Richardson reported a network of irregular blue lines across Martian deserts seen briefly through the Mt. Wilson 60 inch telescope on June 3, 1956. He said the blue canals differ from the long straight lines and resemble blue veins in mineral, with Mars at 74 million miles from Earth.
A nighttime sniper, in a car, wounded two girls and fired on women at bus stops and in peppered cars and homes with a .22 rifle across four communities since Christmas. The spree began again last night, targeting women and causing widespread fear in the Detroit area.
Two hours after the first shot, police nabbed Gary Addison Taylor, 20, of Southfield Township. He claimed to be the shooter saying he had an urge to shoot at women. The spree began with Shirley Eland, 19, shot on her Bloomfield Hills porch. later shots hit a Royal Oak bus stop, a station wagon, and Carol Ann McCarthy, 11, grazed. Police held him without charge.
