Walter George oil well near El Dorado caps after 12 days
Special to Monroe News-Star reports the Walter George well near El Dorado came in at noon Saturday, producing 50 to 100 barrels of oil and enormous gas flow. Drilled to 2,047 feet in 12 days, the six inch casing was set and the sand encountered 90 feet deeper after a 10 day wait. Operators plan mudding to drill deeper into the sand.

Jury Near Bond Offer Satisfying to Taxpayers
The parish jury aims to dispose of its 1.6 million dollar bond issue for good roads within two to three weeks. President John M. Breard Jr says a telegram from R. M. Grant and Co indicates strong interest with offers from St. Louis buyers. The police jury plans to meet tomorrow to pursue sale steps, possibly readvertising the issue.
