The Morehouse Parish School Board unanimously accepted the resignation of Ted Wright as superintendent after a delayed decision. Wright cited family reasons for moving and had previously rejected a salary increase offer that would have raised his pay to about 17 500 annually. The board also approved low bids for buses and trucks and opened bids for a library science addition, with costs higher than expected.
Three children died after becoming trapped in an upright garage refrigerator in La Habra California Shirley Meeks found Willie 5 and two girls ages 4 and 3 who were under her care missing at about 10 15 a m after a three hour search police were called The bodies were found crammed inside the refrigerator and investigators pursued the case as a fatal accident and local tragedy.
Columbia Town Council will host the Fifth District Louisiana Municipal Association meeting on February 28. District vice president is James G. Sherman mayor of Columbia. A seven member committee was appointed to study Columbia parking and present recommendations at the March meeting.
A blaze at the Red Lion Inn in Bensalem caused about 10000 in damages. The tavern is known for its colonial ties with George Washingtons army and its location on the former key route between Philadelphia and Trenton. President John Adams is also reported to have lodged there.
