Ferriday High Bulldogs topped Rayville Hornets 72 to 48 to reach the district 2-A tournament set for Oak Grove February 21 22. Ferriday standout Graves scored 36 after a 52 point game earlier this week while Peters led Rayville with 14. Rayville ninth graders beat Ferriday 30-8 in a preliminary.

In Downsville Louisiana the Downsville High School girls defeated Calhoun 54 38 to advance to the district championship against Quitman. Hamilton 27, Terral 16 led Downsville while Saxon 22 and Hale 11 topped Calhoun. Calhoun boys lost 53 34 as Aulds 23 and Sims 13 led. At Quitman Jessie Norred 34 led a 51 36 win over Linville and the team earns a shot at Downsville for the conference title.

A special Ouachita unit meeting of the Louisiana Wildlife Federation will gather next Tuesday night with commercial fishermen and state legislators from districts four five and eight to discuss the mesh size law. The 1956 edict raising net mesh from two to four inches takes effect June 1 1958, a change seen as a hardship requiring replacement of nets. Jim Davis the state fish biologist will speak.
