Washington February 7 The clash between United States Commissioner Oliver and United States Attorney at El Paso over serving warrants on Enrique C Llorente Mexican consul charged with violating the neutrality law was reported to Attorney General Wickersham. The marshal held warrants per federal advice, Llorente fled to Juarez, and Oliver deputized a special officer to effect the arrest, but Llorente remained at large.
In Brunswick Georgia on February 7 William Rockefeller will testify before the Pujo Money Trust Investigation committee. A conference with his attorney decided that all press representatives may attend the afternoon hearing on Jekyll Island.
President Araujo of Salvador, attacked by a would-be assassin in Bolivar Park, is much improved as cablegrams reach Consul Mosan. A broad organizing drive runs in Porto Rico under the State Branch of the American Federation of Labor. Indianapolis colored waiters form a union and elect a delegate to the State Federation.
At Colorado bar near Bluefields Nicaragua a schooner capsized drowning twenty people including Captain Bellestero and fifteen passengers. Four crew members also died in the disaster.
Washington dispatch reports the run boat Annapolis carrying 148 bluejackets was ordered from San Diego to Amnapala Honduras at the request of the State and Navy Departments.
Andrew Williams, a Black man, was lynched by a mob in Houston Mississippi early Thursday. Suspected of murdering Mrs. John C. Williams, wife of Chickasaw county deputy chancery clerk, her body found in an abandoned pit near the Williams home yesterday. Williams resisted arrest, was dragged from the jail, and hanged at a nearby tree. He made no statement. Two Black women testified they saw him enter the Williams home yesterday before noon.
Princeton N J Feb 7 President elect Wilson has not decided what legislation he will recommend to the extra session of Congress besides the tariff This statement came as he was asked Thursday night about reports from Washington that he would urge the next Congress to act on additional measures.
The report notes President elect Wilson views tariff reform anti trust measures and currency reform as trio of priorities for rapid enactment. He plans to consult congressional leaders after inauguration before making decisions. The Governor spent the day drafting his inaugural address and was visited by his brother Joseph N. Wilson of the Nashville Banner.
