Alabama Senate approves two cent gasoline tax bill

Montgomery Feb 6 The Alabama senate passed by 27 to 8 a two cent gasoline tax. Fifty percent of revenue goes to the state treasury and half to counties for road upkeep. The bill, which passed the house last week, now awaits the governor's approval.

Arrest Bilbo on Contempt Charge by U S Judge Order

Ex Governor Bilbo of Poplarville was arrested in Hattiesburg on a contempt charge for failing to appear as a witness in the Frances Birkhead suit against Governor Lee M Russell. Negro Shot by Watchman at Cerinne Plantation

New Orleans reports a guard Tony Cerino shot and killed Sam Negro at Cerinne Plantation in St Bernard Parish after hearing a back door open and the cash register ring. Cerino, guarding the plantation store, said the man fled toward him and he fired buckshot, striking Rogers in the back. The injured man died at a hospital after five this morning. Cerino released on $1000 bond.
