Frederick O. Beach and his wife testified in the avowedly same story case of assault on Mrs. Beach in their cottage yard. The defense pressed knife blood tests while expert witnesses debated blade integrity and method of wound in a high profile murder attempt defense.
Unsettled conditions with rain expected tonight and continuing into Friday. Temperatures stay mild with chances of showers lingering through the day. Local forecasts indicate periodic thunder possible in scattered areas.

A Department of Agriculture report shows boll weevil expands to 278,800 square miles in 1912, up 7,300 from 1911. Texas leads with 11,050 miles of infestation, followed by Alabama 9,190, Florida 2,200, and Mississippi 370.

Professor Perry Holden plans a visit to Monroe Louisiana with a view to surveying the rich Monroe district for a proposed new kingdom of corn. The event includes a Monroe Chamber of Commerce banquet and expected attendance by Governor Hall and other officials.
Street Commissioner P. D. McCabe removes about a foot of soft mud from DeSiard Street from the Sixth Street crossing to the cemetery gate. Cider has been used to break up the mud and restore passage as the street had been in a fearful condition since mud formed.
About 35 school age children live at and near Fairbanks City and the parish school board will soon be asked to provide for a local school. New residents continue to arrive.
