Hair curler injures man during late night fight in Monroe
Dennis Freemont and his brother John Freemont fought at 1402 Ouachita Avenue. Dennis was treated for scalp lacerations at Charity hospital. John was later arrested for disturbing the peace and profane language after a second call reporting loud noises.

Laird Sentenced In Auto Theft Case
Judge David J. Garrett presided on February 3 1954 in the 4th District Court. M. J. Laird 24 was found guilty of auto theft and sentenced to three years in the state penitentiary. Laird had prior theft probation. Harvie Fields Negro was convicted for DUI and received six months in parish jail. J H Walker 69 pleaded guilty to theft and awaits sentencing after fingerprint returns.

Plastic Hearts Will Be Issued By Local Firms
Salesmen for Swift and Co and Monroe Wholesale Drug Co will distribute plastic hearts for the 1954 Ouachita Parish campaign Saturday. Chairman Joe Saravusa said Swift would place hearts in grocery stores and the drug firm in drug stores. The goal is $10,000 with unsolicited gifts already arriving.
