Chicago faces a rabies emergency after a mass dog attack in Cook County. A dentist, a mother, and her child were bitten as authorities seek 16 victims from a previous attack and urge immediate anti rabies treatment. Sheriff orders capture or destruction of stray dogs within quarantined areas.
The Monroe district conference of Rotary Clubs will be held February 15 and 16 with about 600 Rotarians expected. Representatives come from all Louisiana clubs except New Orleans and from Vicksburg Mississippi, totaling 52 clubs. The meeting aims to review service activities and plan future efforts while renewing friendships. The Monroe club is among 8,000 clubs worldwide working for community betterment and international understanding.
On orders from President Eisenhower, 16 Air Force enlisted men on leave were flown from Germany to the United States. Among them was Airman 1 C Norval A Walton of Bastrop Louisiana. Lt. Col. William Draper piloted the trip aboard the Columbine after delivering Dulles to Berlin for the Big Four conference. The group stopped in Frankfurt before continuing to Washington where they arrived that night.

Essay Duhon a 34 year old World War II veteran died after shooting himself in the head while seated in his automobile. He had been estranged from his family.
Ouachita parish school board accepted a low bid of 51 765 for a new Okaloosa elementary school. Harry Carpenter of West Monroe submitted the low bid among six candidates including Eason Haynes Boyd and Chapman. Furniture bids for Okaloosa and Swayze schools and cafeteria equipment bids were also received.
Rear Adm. T G W Settle, commander of the Eighth Naval District, is named commander of Area II for Armed Forces Day on May 15. Area II covers Louisiana Arkansas Texas Oklahoma and New Mexico with the theme Power for Peace.

James Roosevelt and his wife Romelle face a court hearing tomorrow in Los Angeles on her request for 3500 a month temporary support for herself and their three children while her main maintenance suit proceeds. Roosevelts lawyer Samuel B Picone said this will be their first meeting since her Pasadena filing.
Funeral services were held in Jena for Robert Ganey 46 who died from injuries suffered while dislodging a high powered live overhanging wire from a truck Tuesday. He was an employee of Trichelle Drilling Company and is survived by his wife and one child.

Trained on the Japan desk under Beria, he moved in Tokyo circles and even frequented U.S. Army officers clubs before contacting American agents for asylum on January 24. Rostovorov cooperates with U.S. agents on Okinawa, sought protection as a political refugee, and prompted gratitude from the FBI-like observers for such a bold break in Far East espionage.
