B. Corry and Company funeral chapel with Rev. T. Hastings officiating, burial in Monroe cemetery. The sole surviving relative is H. Moore of Marietta, per a found letter. Police and coroner concluded death resulted from a fire while the man slept near improvised shelter, possibly after using canned heat, with investigators treating the case as accidental. The coroner confirmed the name inquest results. the brick masons' union will hold services.

Burns Fatal Fireman From Hodge Dies After Gasoline Explosion
Tophile Miller a 31 year old fireman employed by the McGinty Pipeline company at Hodge La died after being severely burned in a gasoline explosion while starting a boiler. His wife and an adopted daughter survive. The accident occurred as Miller attempted to start the fire with gasoline and his clothing burned. He died at Riverside sanitarium about twelve hours after the incident. The body was sent to Jennings for funeral services with interment in Jennings. Mrs Miller traveled from Jennings to Lake Charles then to Jennings after news of the death. A car accident near Alexandria injured one man and delayed the party returning to Jennings.

Man and four children perish in cottage fire
At Lake Minnetonka a cottage fire last night killed Leon Wiley and four of his children ages six to twelve. Mrs Wiley and the remaining child escaped after she carried the infant from the blaze and leaped from a window. she and the baby were in critical condition. The fire’s cause was not determined.
