Kansas City February 2 President Wilson demanded steps begin this month to defend American lives and commerce abroad. Addressing 16,000 cheering supporters he urged immediate action and asked citizens to back him up, saying there is no day to delay for readiness and national honor.

Community effort to establish a library in Monroe after the McGuire building on Wood Street was donated to the Civic League Library Committee. London reports Saloniki advices from a German source to the Exchange Telegraph that a German Austro German push against Saloniki is imminent. The report notes railway repair and Field Marshal von Mackensen at Menastir amid limited fighting elsewhere.
